In short
- Exploring the map needs no account. No cookies, no analytics, no advertising, no sale of data.
- Your saved jobs and preferences stay on your device.
- Your location is requested only when you tap “Near me”. It leaves your device only rounded to about 1 km, and JobHorizon does not store it.
Data processed for every visitor
Operation and security
Data: IP address, browser or device, requested address (it contains the search parameters, the map area shown and, for the “Nearest” sort, a starting point rounded to about 1 km), date and response code, in the technical logs of the hosting provider. Purpose: serve the pages and the API, diagnose errors, prevent abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Retention: at most 30 days for the runtime logs of the Vercel Pro plan; for the logs it keeps itself, Vercel publishes no period (its privacy notice speaks of the minimum necessary period). Recipient: Vercel Inc. (processor). IHD keeps no application log containing these data.
To limit abuse, the server counts requests per IP address in memory: one minute for the natural-language search, one hour for job reports. These counters are never written to disk.
Search, map and list
Data: search text, map area, filters, starting point of the “Nearest” sort (rounded to 2 decimals, about 1 km). Purpose: compute the jobs to show. Legal basis: performance of the service you request (Article 6(1)(b)). These data are processed on the fly and are not stored by JobHorizon. A place name you type may be sent to the public geocoding services of the French IGN and the Spanish IGN (CartoCiudad) to locate it; nothing else is sent to them.
“Near me” location
Requested by your browser or phone only when you tap “Near me”, with your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), at reduced accuracy. The exact location stays on your device (“Your location” dot). Before any request and in the page address it is rounded to 2 decimals, about 1 km; the server applies the same rounding before any calculation. You can withdraw the permission in your browser or phone settings.
Base map
Your browser or the app downloads map tiles from OpenFreeMap (Hyperknot Software Kft. (OpenFreeMap), Hungary), which therefore receives your IP address and the area shown. According to its policy (openfreemap.org/privacy), its access logs contain no IP address; its error logs may and are deleted after 7 days.
Reporting a job
Data: job, reason, optional note (500 characters; do not write personal data in it) and a pseudonym of the reporter, computed (HMAC-SHA256 with a secret key) from your IP address; the IP address is never stored in clear. Purpose: take a job reported as expired by several people off the map while it is checked, and prevent abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest. Retention: pseudonym erased after 30 days; the report, without pseudonym, stays attached to the job. Recipient: Supabase Pte. Ltd. (database hosting, region eu-west-1 (Ireland)).
Storage on your device
On the website: saved jobs, reported jobs, theme and the dismissed language suggestion are kept in the browser's local storage (jh-saved-jobs, jh-reported-expired, jh-theme, jh-lang-hint-dismissed). In the app: saved jobs, reports and preferences in the app's storage. This information does not leave your device, except as described in the account sections. Strictly necessary for the features you use, it needs no consent (Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act). Clearing the site data or uninstalling the app deletes it.
